Siamese Filmart is pleased to announce that acclaimed Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul will deliver a keynote session on the second day of the market, bringing one of Southeast Asia’s most distinctive cinematic voices to the main conference stage.

The session, titled “Make the Slow Cinema Louder”, will explore the future of independent filmmaking, the role of memory and landscape in cinema, and how regional stories can travel without losing their identity. The keynote will also reflect on the changing relationship between artists, audiences, platforms, and international festivals.

Known for his poetic visual language and deeply personal approach to storytelling, Apichatpong’s presence adds a strong artistic dimension to this year’s program. His keynote is expected to attract filmmakers, producers, programmers, students, and international guests interested in auteur cinema and new forms of Asian storytelling.

The session will be followed by a moderated conversation and audience Q&A, offering attendees a rare opportunity to hear directly from one of the region’s most influential filmmakers.

“Cinema does not always need to move faster. Sometimes the quietest image carries the longest echo.”
